Stone Meal Farm is located on a 6.5 acre parcel in Scotts Valley that is hugged by a sweet creek, Bean Creek, on three sides of the property. This area has full southern sun exposure on a 100 year old floodplain which means rich, healthy soil. Nestled at the bottom of a gulch, Stone Meal benefits from a warm micro climate, their farm sheltered from the wind and bathing in extra heat which radiates from the sandy hills that surround it.
The name Stone Meal Farms refers to the compost tea method that Thomas uses to build healthy soil and foster productive plants.
Owner Thomas Herzog studied electrical engineering in college. Upon graduation, inspired by organic agriculture, he moved into farming in 2014.
