August 26 Popup Breakfast

When purchasing your Pop-Up Breakfast tickets please consider buying raffle tickets. Each ticket will be entered into a raffle for a $50 farmers’ market gift certificate. The economy for the small farm has always been challenging. With labor issues, growing competition and extreme weather, farmers are increasingly vulnerable. More than ever we at SCCFM are working to keep operation costs as low as possible for the grower, minimizing the financial burden they bare. In response, we are exploring new and exciting avenues to diversify our base of support. This includes turning to our community, and fans of regional agriculture, to sustain and grow our educational programs and the markets at large. Purchase each raffle ticket for $10 or three tickets for $25.

NOTE * The Santa Cruz Community Farmers’ Market is a 501(c)6 membership-based non-for-profit. With this status All donation MUST fund our programs but they are NOT tax deductible.

Kathrine Stern of La Posta, a small, beloved Italian restaurant in Seabright, joins us for the first time this year. We are so pleased. Chef Stern shops at the Downtown Santa Cruz Farmers' Market every Wednesday and has a keen eye for whatever new gems have just come into season, be it green garlic or blood oranges. Years ago on a backpacking trip in Europe she fell in love with Italy and extended her stay to learn more about agriculture and cooking. Between picking grapes and spending time in kitchens her love for the culinary arts was cemented. Learn about Chef Stern and La Posta.

Brad Briske has been a rising start in Santa Cruz and Monterey Counties for over a decade. A magician of a chef, he likes to take risks and find adventures in cooking. Working with Briske tends to be a wild experience, but it’s worth it – he’s made some of the best meals we’ve ever eaten and is incredibly dedicated to sourcing direct from farms. He is also a butcher and holds him to the standards, purchasing animals direct from ranches and processing them himself. Learn more about Chef Briske and his new restaurant Home in Soquel.
